LIB DEMS' HELEN MAGUIRE CALLS FOR A RETURN TO "PROPER LOCAL HEALTH SERVICES"
Dear friends, welcome to our latest monthly update on local (and some wider) news covering events during March. This will be our last update until after the local elections on Thursday 4th May (see more on this below) as, although some Council activities will continue during April, we don't expect big news to break during this "purdah period" (however we are expecting a new planning application from Aldi for the old dairy site very shortly).
Speech from David Gulland at the Special Council of 22 March 2023 around "pausing" the Local Plan process:
Following the publication of the inspection report into SEND services in Surrey, the Lib Dems are urging the County Council to go further and faster to improve the experience of those children, young people, and their families.
Surrey Lib Dem councillor Jeffrey Gray is delighted that a highways project in his division has been approved for funding in 2024 –25.
Surrey Lib Dems calls on water firm to crack down on excessive pay.
Liberal Democrat Leader rallies his party ahead of this year's General Election.
It's time for change. We cannot sit idly by as our local services crumble. Liberal Democrats will always stand up for a fair deal for communities.
Let's focus on what truly works: tackling the backlog, creating safe routes, and upholding our commitment to human rights. As Liberal Democrats, we will continue to fight for a fairer and more compassionate asylum system.
