James Lawrence, one of the LibDem Councillors for College Ward, has launched a petition to ensure that children and those in financial difficulties can still have free access to our Council tennis courts.
Epsom & Ewell Council are planning to introduce charges for using the tennis courts in our parks. Details can be read here.
Whilst we have sympathy with the financial pressures on the council, we think is important that children and those in financial difficulties should not always have to pay these charges.
We therefore petition the council to provide some free access to their tennis courts. Precise details are best selected by the Council but our suggestion is to allow free access to all children for a short period during weekends and school holidays.
In addition, all members of households receiving Council Tax Income Discount, Council Tax Support or Council Tax Discretionary Relief, should be able to use the tennis courts free of charge for a maximum of 4 hours a week.
