Railway cutting summer

First SHLAA Site Comes up for Grabs

Railway cutting land off Mill Road, Epsom, is the first of the borough council's identified sites for housing (some 18 in total) to become the subject of a planning application, though recent press coverage has featured another site - the Organ Inn PH in Ewell.

Sharon Bowles MEP welcomes ECB pledge to preserve Euro

Commenting on the European Central Bank announcements following the recent Governing Council meeting, Sharon Bowles, Chair of the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee welcomed the reconfirmation that the ECB would do 'whatever it takes' to preserve the Euro as a stable currency.

Spend property cash on services say Lib Dems, as Surrey County Council heads towards £19 MILLION overspend

Liberal Democrat county councillors have criticised Surrey County Council's plan to set aside income derived from property acquisitions into further property speculation rather than investing in services. According to the latest budget figures, the County Council is facing an overspend of £19 million in the current financial year but is planning to set aside £3.8m of income generated from property to invest in more property, rather than take the pressure off council services which are facing cuts of £104 million pounds this year.
