Those lovely squeezy ketchup and mayonnaise bottles can be re-used again and again, but try re-filling them with the same product from glass bottles or jars.

Some families find the plastic ketchup and mayonnaise bottles much easier to use than the glass alternatives, but ever thought of re-using them? Buying these products in their glass alternatives is usually cheaper anyway and having emptied the contents from the glass bottle or jar into the plastic container means (a) the glass bottle can be recycled (b) the plastic bottle can be reused. With enough squeezing the plastic bottles disintegrate after a while (and then they too can be recycled) but doesn't saving money tend to be attractive to us all? The large plastic bottle of Heinz ketchup takes two small glass bottles and while it is a little more difficult with the mayonnaise, there's certainly a feel-good factor from putting in the effort to re-use and recycle.
