Lib Dems victorious in SW Surrey

In the two unusual Wednesday by-elections in Godalming, the Lib Dem candidate Paul Follows won the vacant seats on both Godalming Town and Waverley Borough councils, previously held by Conservatives.

This adds to an already outstanding run of by-election successes for the Liberal Democrats, the only major national party with an overall net increase in council seats in 2017.
