Following many years of campaigning by Lib Dem councillors, some play equipment for older young people has finally been installed in Court Recreation Ground. Every year Cllr Jonathan Lees reminded the borough council that there was £20,000 earmarked for teenage recreation facilities in Court Rec, which originally came from the insurance payout on the burnt out Court Rec Dojo.

Cllr Lees said "I am really pleased that after a campaign of many years we have finally seen something happen. This equipment, whilst small, will provide something for our young people in one of our Town based parks. We have a great new playground and combined with these new pieces of kit, the council is finally meeting some of the priorities expressed by our residents."

"It's just a shame that we had to spend so long arguing over the use of the money with the Residents Association councillors, who wanted to divert it into the council's general funds!"
